Roger was always smiling and just a really good, optimistic person. I remember one time for some reason (since I never really golfed) he was giving me golfing tips at Waveland - as I flailed around raising large divits and wayward balls he said somehting like "looking good Pomeroy - you'll catch on".  Really optimistic...RIP my friend.

Roger’s family hosted a wonderful memorial service for Roger on October 2, 2021 in Aurora IL.  I attended the service along with Art Gamble and Art’s brother Beau. Roger’s daughter Meghan and son Jeffrey shared memories of Roger as did Drake Golf Teammate, Bob Sapp. Bob shared how Roger helped him with his golf game on a regular basis! Even with the shanks! Roger’s brother Jeff did an especially touching remembrance of Roger. I shared some escapades Roger and I experienced growing up since we had know each other since grade school. One memory was a sledding mishap on the hills at Waveland. Nothing like Governor Terry Branstad, but notable for us! Roger and I played a lot of team golf together and we remained friends even when we competed head-to-head. We went to I-Hop for pancakes one time right after a tough match which spoke highly of our friendship. Roger ran in the Boston Marathon in 2003 on behalf of the American Liver Foundation. Roger worked with the Walter Payton Commemorative Football Program. Roger truly was an entrepreneur having started Game Time Promotions, as well as Digi-me which is mentioned on the TRHS “in memory” page. Roger had been a lifelong friend right up until his passing! In 2020, in spite of his illness, and the Covid situation Roger was still the same Mr. Positive right until the end! I have always been impressed with Rogers accomplishments and will miss him.

Thanks to Bob for posting news of the memorial.  It's a sad shock when one of our classmates passes, but I bet Roger had a great life and made the lives of those around him better.
