Greg entertained us with his funny and quirky sense of humor and laugh.

I remember hanging out with Greg some in junior high at Franklin, not so much in High School, but I too remember how funny he could be! I was so sorry to read his obit a year ago or so.

Greg lived down the street from us and we were friends from elementary through high school, though we didn't spend too much time together in the later years.  I remember that we used to have acorn fights - the Pitts boys, me, Dick VanderLinden, and others.  We'd go down to Wittmer park and gather up paper grocery bags full of acorns, and then spend hours hurling them at each other in mock battles.  It all got stopped when one of us got hit in the eye fairly badly, but what a bunch of fun it was till then.  Greg was always funny, even when he had issues to deal with.  He was the drummer in a band called the Chessmen for a while, and we used to go to his basement to listen to them practice.  His band and his older brother's band, the Princemen, were the reason I learned to play guitar.  He died January 25, 2009, at his home in Urbandale.
