John Wayne Bowen, 65, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

John was born August 26, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Wayne and Patricia Bowen.

John was friendly and caring - helping anyone. He enjoyed telling stories and spending time outdoors, especially fishing. He loved animals. He also enjoyed watching television including the news, Days of Our Lives and sports. He was a big Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

John is survived by his daughter, Jane (Jordan) Osborne; a sister Kathy Markin; a brother Tom (Charlene) Bowen; Judy Bowen (Jane’s mother); nephew Chad (Hilary) Markin, niece Marie Bowen and nephew Dennis Bowen; as well as a great nephew and three great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and Kathy Ryan, his companion.

Friends and family members are invited to share memories of John Wednesday, February 21 for visitation 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Rd, Des Moines, IA 50322. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery Friday, February 23 at 2 pm.
